This course introduces the Project Management in 20 Steps (PM20) methodology, a practical framework designed for humanitarian and development projects. Participants will learn the foundations of management, the unique nature of NGO project environments, and how PM20 compares with global standards such as PMDPro and PMP. The course then guides learners through the full project life cycle, from planning and implementation to monitoring, reporting, and closure, using clear, actionable steps. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the tools and structured approach needed to manage donor-funded projects effectively, ensure accountability, and deliver sustainable results in complex environments.
This course provides a practical, system-based approach to Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) in humanitarian and development projects. It introduces MEAL as a core management system embedded across the entire project lifecycle, from planning (MEAL plans and risk management) to implementation (monitoring and accountability), adaptive management (learning and reprogramming), reporting, and project closure. The course focuses on real tools, templates, and workflows used in the field, enabling participants to design MEAL systems, track indicators, manage accountability mechanisms, produce high-quality reports, and support evidence-based decision-making. By the end, participants will be able to operationalize MEAL systems effectively in real projects.
